World Diabetes Month

Diabetes is a disease you have when your blood glucose levels are above normal, which can cause serious health complications, including heart diseas, blindness, kidney failure and lower extremity amputations.

There are two types of diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes: a progressive autoimmune disease that is usually diagnosed in children and young adullts. Treatment for Type1 diabetes includes healthy eating, physical activity and insulin injections.

Type 2 diabetes: is caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and usally starts in adulthood. The basic treatment for Type 2 diabetes is healthy eating eating and physical activity to lower glocuse levels in the blood.

It is possible for some pregnant women to develop signs of diabetes, and this is called gestational diabetes. November is World Diabetes Month. It is critical for all citizen of South Africa to ensure that the testing for Diabetes is carried away.
